Humans imbue places with emotions. The bathroom of yesterday evokes memories of cold tiles and functional ceramic objects. The surfaces in today’s bathroom, however, are much more varied: furniture comes in a range of finishes such as textured wood or satin matte lacquers. The Opus

She was a master of organic architecture and the first woman to be awarded the coveted Pritzker Prize, the Nobel Prize of architecture. Today, all over the world, Zaha Hadid's buildings spiral up into the sky, bridge rivers, streets and squares, or nestle into the edge of Russian mountain plateaus. Apparently weightless, her concrete constructions stack layer upon layer of projecting and set-back stories, seamlessly link assembly line production with office work in Leipzig's BMW factory, and transform ski jumps and exhibition halls into studies on dynamics.

Matteo Thun

Matteo Thun was born in Bozen (South Tyrol) in 1952. After studying at the Oskar Kokoschka Academy in Salzburg, and at the Faculty of Architecture in Florence, in 1981, he was one of the co-founders of the legendary Memphis Group. Its members questioned the pure functionality of design objects.

Duravit still influences bathroom design. This is largely thanks to the collaboration with Dieter Sieger, which commenced in 1990. A starting signal for us as a manufacturer of designer bathrooms. With the "Darling" ceramic series, we set standards and, looking back, can see that we changed the industry. There's no doubt that this required a certain degree of courage, but mainly a love of sustainable design and timeless forms, something that is still apparent today in every Duravit product.

Kurt Merki Jr.

His bi-cultural childhood and upbringing played a fundamental role in shaping his creative approach. Kurt Merki Jr. creates dreams in the form of versatile products that offer solutions for all manner of lifestyles. The Vero complete bathroom collection that he designed speaks volumes with its timeless elegance, and has been the recipient of three awards in quick succession.

Frank Huster

Frank Huster, born in 1939, completed his studies of architecture and interior design in Stuttgart. In a shared office with Peter Hübner, from 1970 to 1978 he also worked on developing cardboard toys, folded structures, and cardboard screens for the Munich Olympics.

EOOS

EOOS, the likeable Vienna-based design trio, could pass as a boy band. These three designers do not view their ‘threesome’ approach as a hindrance – in fact, they see it as a bonus, as bringing together three different personalities continually gives rise to surprising objects that shape the spaces they inhabit.
