The globally operating architecture and urbanism practice MVRDV is collaborating with other renowned architecture partners such as MVSA, Team V, Barcode, and Studioninedots to plan and build a state-of-the-art and car-free city district - “Hyde Park” – in the town of Hoofddorp, just half-an-hour’s drive from the Dutch capital Amsterdam.
More than 3,800 high-quality apartments and studios are being built on the site of a former business park, 25 acres in size, and the first apartment block is due for completion in 2022. The unique urban park, named after districts in London, seeks to balance out the scarcity of residential accommodation in the vicinity of Amsterdam. The architects’ aim is to create a vibrant and centrally located city district where people can live well, enjoy the company of friends, and enjoy the leafy surroundings.
